It's "Fix it Friday" on iheartfaces.blogspot.com. Here is the original picture, a very beautiful photo of a pretty girl holding her baby snowman .

This is my edit:

I adjusted curves to make it brighter and warmer. then I added texture from here at hard light.
then added a layering mask to erase the layer off of the subject. Then I added a texture from here on multiply mode then erased it off the girl. I then lowered the opacity a little bit. Then I used some ice brushes that I got from here.

This week on i heart faces the theme is Texture. I know this is a little different than the norm. I don't think that I can get a picture beautiful enough to stand up to some of the gorgeous entries this week. So, I figured I just enter something unique!

Newborn Photos

I finally had an opportunity to photograph a newborn baby! I also did a few of the family and his older brother who is 2! I think that the pics look so sweet. I learned a lot from this session. This was my first indoor session since it was a little cold outside for nakey baby pics. Also, I thought 2 year olds were hard, newborns have a mind of their own! Although this little one eventually did take a little snooze for me. Here is a sneak peek at a few of my favorites!

Just for fun I did a little vintage looking edit to this one. I think I like it.

Henry - 3 year old portraits

While Henry is not technically 3 until this Saturday I took his portraits yesterday. We went out to Lake Welchel, the same place I did Zoe's 1 year portraits. Henry moves a lot and a lot of the pictures came out blurry but I did manage to get a few good ones.

Photo Project - ABC's of Henry

I got this idea from a friend of mine on Facebook (thanks Diana). It's the ABC's of Henry. I hope to finish the alphabet and have it published in a photo book by his birthday in September. I have a few letters to share so far, I can't wait to share all 26! It's really easy and fun to do. Let me know if you give it a try!

Last night I met up with Olivia to take some portraits for her. She is going to be a senior this year. She is such a sweet girl and we had lots of fun. I'm still working on editing through the 500 pictures I took. I think I went a little overboard!

I Heart Faces - Let's hear it for the Boys!

In honor of Fathers Day the theme this week on IHeartFaces is "Let's Hear it for the Boys" No pics of girls allowed!Of course for the children's category I am posting a picture of my favorite little boy, Henry. I think this picture shows his boyness (is that a word?) Amazingly he is clean in this picture and it's not a blur! Henry is constantly on the go.

For the adults category I decided to use a picture of my father since yesterday was Fathers Day. You couldn't ask for a better dad! He's always there when I need him and is so much fun to be around. He always knows how to make us laugh. He's a great papa too!

I'm so excited! One of my blog heroes used my picture on her blog header!! I took a picture of a graphic on the side of Mabry's here in Gaffney that I thought she would like and lo and behold she did! Rita at Coffeeshop creates great Photoshop actions and shares them with her readers. She also has a lot of Photoshop tutorials on her blog. I have learned a lot about editing photos from her!

B & W Conversions

One thing I've learned through this journey of bettering my photographic skills is that not all b & w photos are created equal. Sometimes they can be too flat and gray. I'm trying to get to where my B &W photos really pop and look beautiful instead of flat.

This is an old photo of Henry that I had in my photobucket account. This conversion is more gray than black and white.

Here are some B & W conversions I worked on last night. Do you think they look better? I'm still trying to figure it out! It's more complicated than you'd think.

Zoe badoey!

I took some pics of Pretty little Zoe last night. I got some filters for my camera and I thought I'd play with them. I didn't see much of a difference but I don't think it was really the right conditions for the Filters to make any difference. I got to spend some alone time with Zoe and got some cute pics though. Poor Zoe has been neglected this week since her big brother is being potty trained.

This picture was taken with the polarizing filter on the camera. The colors did look slightly more bold I thought. I need to take pictures of a reflective surface like water or glass to get the full effect of this filter.

I love her little "duck lips" that she makes. it's too cute!

I just love her expression in this one!

Zoe loves to give kisses lately and she started kissing this giraffe, too cute!

scoping for locations

I wanted to drive around Gaffney and take some pics of possible locations to take pictures but it rained and kind of put a damper on things. I did manage to get a few shots in of Henry and Matt though.

Henry and I ended up playing at the playground. Right after we got home the sky opened up and poured down rain.

I wanted to try some non-baby portraits so naturally, my husband is the perfect victim um I mean model. Here are some of my favorites, a couple have several edits to show different looks.

I love this first one straight out of the camera (SOOC) but the hat makes his eyes really dark. The first few edits make the shadow even worse.

This is my edit.

To get this I played with curves a little bit, made and "s" shape. I used the clone tool to get rid of the chair she is sitting in. Next I did CoffeeShop eyebright action. flatten image. Next I ran the sweet bakery glazes coffeeshop action and chose vanilla glaze at about 40%. flatten image. then I burned the shadows of her shirt and her lips at about 50%. Next I decided to crop it and then add some edge burn. and done!

Henry ran into the wall at church today and got a nasty bruise on his nose, yes, I said he ran into the wall. His poor nose is so swollen! I thought at one point that he may have broken it. There's no hope for him being coordinated and playing any type of sport at this point. We'll have to focus on academics instead if there is any hope for a scholarship in his future :)

I snapped these pics while Matt was reading to Henry at bedtime tonight. I thought they turned out pretty good.
